Area of Interaction: Community and Service
Significant Concept: An understand of the Design Cycle and movie software.
Unit Question: How can my knowledge help others at home, in my community, and school?

Design Specifications:
-Create 3 movies about the learner profile (TOPBRRICCK)
-Your movie needs to be about 30 seconds long
-In your movie, you need to explain one definition from the learner profile
-I am not including a requirement for sound effects, music, or titles. However, I expect you to add them where they naturally fit!
-Use different camera angles to make your videos look outstanding!
-This is due March 1.
-You will be graded on the Design Cycle and your project. You will receive an MYP and academic grade.

Investigate:
Completely explain the problem and its relevance to your life.
1. Explain the problem.
The problem is that we need to create 3 movies that relate to the TOPBRICCK pyramid.
2. How does the problem apply to you?
This relates to me because the Top Bricks apply personal traits to everyday life and set a basis for how we should act.
Critically investigate the problem and evaluate information from a variety of appropriate sources.
3. Are you going to use Final Cut or iMovie? Explain why. We are going to use Final Cut because Mitch is familiar with the software and it will look nicer in comparison to imovie if we do it right.

Design:
Create a range of possible designs, and evaluate all of them against the design specifications (requirements).
4. What ideas do you have for your movie? List all of them!
We might film some parkor at the Peruvian Park Elementary School.
Dress one of us up as an old man and help him cross the street
Walking on a balance beam while doing things that we do every day, a compilation of clips while walking on a balance beam.
Picking up litter
Being nice to people that we meet
Bungee jump
Stopping a bullet with y bear hands.
Talking to someone that we dont know and welcoming them.
Series of questioning clips.
Sherlock Holmes?
For being reflective, we will try to film something like someone getting his memory lost. Therefore, when he wakes up, he will have to be reflective and have to remember what happened to him, so that he can recover who he is.
Another possible idea is that we can have someone commit a crime, and then go home to see what he did wrong. He will have to reflect on what he did wrong and try to fix it. At this point we will probably edit some effects, and play some sad music. Overall we will try to get the theme of sadness and being reflective. We could also edit in some effects of him running from the police.

5. Do your ideas meet the requirements?
Yes
Choose the best design and evaluate it fully against the design specifications (requirements).
6. How did you choose your final ideas?
Process of elimination through a series of debates and disputes.
7. Did you check to make sure your final ideas met all the requirements?
More or less.

Plan:
Create a plan that contains a number of detailed, logical steps that describes how you will use your resources and time.
8. How are you going to get this movie done by March 1?
We will shoot our films for the majority of the time after school and then try to spend a lot of time filming each time so that we can finish.
9. When will you shoot your videos? We will shoot our videos whenever we have time, but most likely during the weekend.
10. When will you edit the videos? We will edit the videos when ever we have time to, but mostly during the school or maybe at home.
11. What titles and effects are you going to add? We are going to add sound effects and light effects, that work with the lightning to make a positive effect.
12. What camera angles are you going to use? We are going to use all the camera angles, and even shoot them in different angles, without editing.
Evaluate the plan and justify any changes to your design.
13. Do all of your videos meet all of the requirements? Yes, because they support the requirements and stay within the boundaries.
14. Do you need to change anything in the plan, because it doesn't meet all the requirements? No, we don't because the plan fulfills the requirements.

Create:
Skillfully use appropriate techniques and equipment.
15. Were you responsible? Explain.
Yes we were responsible with the equipment because we didn't break anything and used them appropriately.

Follow your plan, justify changes in the plan, and create an appropriate product using your resources and time.
16. Did you follow your plan?
For the most part, not entirely
17. Did you change your plan?
We made minor changes
18. Did you use your time wisely?
Not all of our time
19. Did you make great videos?
Yes
20. How many videos did you make?
3

Evaluate:
Evaluate your product based on the design specifications, results of testing, and feedback from self and others.
21. Did your movies meet all of the requirements? Explain.
Yes because we created three videos that reflected the characteristics of being inquirers, risk takers, and being reflective.
22. What did your friends think about your movies?
They thought that it was humorous but to the point.

Attitude:
You were consistently motivated and respectful.
23. Were you always motivated and respectful?
We were always motivated but there were some loud sounds in our videos that could have been disrespectful to the classrooms around us.
24. Were responsible with my cameras and computers? Explain.
Yes, we used the computer correctly and didn't use your camera.

Unit Question:
25. How can my knowledge help others at home, in my community, and school?
The knowledge that I gain can help people in a multitude of ways such as contributing my ideas to society. The knowledge that I have now will help me discover new things and knowledge that can be shared with my community. The skills that I have acquired can help my school because I can use them to showcase the school or make improvements to it. The knowledge that I have can be used at home to create new things and discover new concepts on my own.
